Darin Sprake joined Pringle MacDonald & Bottos in 2004 after completing his articles and being called to the Alberta bar.
Mr. Sprake earned his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Alberta in 2003, concentrating on courses in Criminal Law. While a law student, he was selected to represent the University of Alberta in the Alberta Cup and the Sopinka Cup National Criminal Trial Advocacy Moot competitions.
He was also very active in Student Legal Services, an organization which provides legal representation to Edmonton’s impoverished community. He became the Coordinator for the Criminal Law Project and later the Chairperson for the S.L.S. Board of Directors.
Mr. Sprake believes strongly in the presumption of innocence and the requirement of proof beyond a reasonable doubt. Based on these beliefs he has focused his practice on trying criminal cases and has represented individuals across Alberta and Saskatchewan at both the Provincial and Superior Court levels.
Mr. Sprake has developed extensive experience in all manner of criminal cases and has successfully defended clients charged with murder, sexual assault, drug trafficking, home invasion, impaired driving and impaired driving causing death, as well as aggravated assault. He has met with success in other quasi-criminal areas of the law as well, working on cases involving the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, the Traffic Safety Act and the provision of advice to members of professional associations concerned with criminal or administrative offences.
